John and Dorothy Brooks' Newly Built Home, 1970's. The home was built in the early 70's, just after Carolyn Brooks, the youngest child of John and Dorothy, had gotten a job at the local unemployment office. Carolyn and her brothers had dreamed of getting their parents a house since their family's home had no running water or a bathroom. During this time Dorothy was working for a man named Robert Malone in Still Pond, MD who owned a construction business. Mr. Malone told the Brooks family that if they could afford a deposit he would build them a new, modern home. Carolyn used all of her savings to pay the deposit and fulfilled her goal to buy her parents a new home. She recalls it being "one of the happiest days of my life." 1970s
