Carolyn Brooks Dressed Up for her Senior Dinner, 1962. Chestertown, MD's Garnet High School Class of 1962 did not have a prom, a yearbook, nor a formal class picture. Instead the 11th grade students threw them a special dinner. Carolyn is wearing a mint green gown and white shoes, gloves and has a small purse. Carolyn recalls that her father, John Brooks, picked up her date James "Hubbard" Washington at his house and took them to the Garnet High School for the event. The dinner was prepared by the home economics class. Quite a few of the seniors who attended actually got food poisoning! Photo taken between May and June of 1962 inside the Brooks' home in Coleman, MD. 1962
