Dear Friend:
What a busy year we’ve had at Kent and Queen Anne’s Hospital!
The Emergency Room has seen an upswing in use this year, and the
early months of 1983 saw weeks on end when every bed in the Hospital was filled.
All this has meant a strain on our facilities, some of which are
nearing 50 years old. (Can any of you remember watching, 50 years
ago this fall, when ground was broken and construction started on
the small building that was to become Kent and Queen Anne’s Hospital?
That building, which opened in 1935, is still in use as part of the
Hospital, which has continued to grow around it.)
We were pleased with the patience of those using the Hospital
during the busy months and gratified when they expressed their
appreciation for the caring spirit of our staff. It reminded us
again how fortunate we are that our Hospital and our community
are still small enough to truly be a family.
But we are reminded, too, of the need to look to the future and
be sure that this special family of ours has all that it needs to
adhere to the highest medical standards. We have just had to
replace our entire telephone system, a sterilization unit in the
Operating Room, and an expensive system in the Critical Care Unit.
With such expensive needs, we appreciate the help of our special
Friends who have backed us whenever we need to call upon them.
Our annual Fall appeal is the only time we do ask our Friends to
include us among their tax-free charitable donations. Your gift
in the enclosed envelope will be deeply appreciated as we face
future needs for modernization.
Yours sincerely,
