Letter regarding Alphonsa's concern for possible punishment of her enslaved man Charles due to the escalation of Mr. Vannort's charges. They want to know if they can choose the magistrate if Charles has to appear before one. They also hope that they can recover Charles so he won't have to live with Vannort after this incident.
