Lew Young, #43, class of 1973. A standout even in his sophomore year leading as a rebounder and scorer, even in the 1971 Mason-Dixon Conference with average of 17.2 rebounds and 17.3 points and in the 1972 Conference average of 14.8 rebounds. The Washington Elm touted him as “sensation.” He became a member of the 1,000-point club at Washington College, was team MVP, All Middle-Atlantic Conference honorable mention and an All-State honorable mention in 1972. After graduation he attended law school at University of Maryland but continued to play even trying out for the Baltimore Bullets and coaching his son’s team. Washington College inducted him into its Athletic Hall of fame in 2012.
