An agreement between James Woodland and James Eccleston for the two-year hire of Eccleston's slave, Sam. The payment will begin on the first day of January 1801 and will consist of fifty-one pounds of gold and silver with the rest being paid the following year. It is stated that if Same were to die or fall ill before the fulfillment of the contract there would be a reduction in the amount due. On the back is the confirmation by Thomas Eccleston, executors or the now deceased James Eccleston, that the contract was fulfilled. The paper was signed both tomes by John Moore.
