Enamel cup in the collection of the African American Schoolhouse in Worton Point, MD.
Each student who attended the schoolhouse brought their own cup to school each Monday and took it home each Friday. The cups were stored on a shelf above the water pump which students used to fill their cups for a drink of water. A schoolhouse alumna noted that nobody needed to put their names on their cups–everybody knew which cup belonged to which student. The pump remains in the schoolhouse to this day.
