The Worton Point schoolhouse did not have indoor restrooms as was the case with many rural homes in Kent County at the time. Students used outhouses when they needed to use the restroom at school and in many cases at home as well. This chamber pot was used indoors to avoid having to go outside to use the restroom at night. In the morning it was emptied and cleaned for use the following evening.
